Typing Skill Test

For candidates appearing for the typing test, the required speed is:

LanguageMinimum Typing Speed
English30 words per minute
Hindi25 words per minute

The typing test is qualifying in nature and is conducted on a personal computer.

RRB NTPC CBT-I Qualifying Marks

The minimum qualifying percentage is:

CategoryMinimum Qualifying Marks
UR40%
EWS40%
OBC-NCL30%
SC30%
ST25%

These are minimum qualifying percentages, not the actual regional cut-offs. The actual CBT-I shortlisting cut-off is determined from normalized marks and varies by RRB, category and post/category.

RRB NTPC CBT-I Result 2026 – Important Difference Between Qualifying Marks and Cut Off

Candidates should not confuse the minimum qualifying marks with the actual cut-off.

For example, the minimum qualifying percentage for UR is 40%, but the reported UR cut-offs in several RRBs are considerably higher. Ahmedabad Cat. 1 has a UR cut-off of 75.75113, while Muzaffarpur Cat. 1 has 82.82026.

This happens because the actual shortlisting is based on normalized merit, available vacancies, category and competition within the concerned RRB.
