NIC Scientific/Technical Assistant Selection Process 2026
There is no separate written examination mentioned for this recruitment. NIC will prepare the merit list based on the candidates’ GATE scores.
The selection process is:

NIC will prepare a category-wise merit list separately for each discipline based on GATE score. Equal weightage will be given to GATE 2024, GATE 2025 and GATE 2026 scores.
Tie-Breaking
If candidates have the same GATE score:
- The candidate with the older GATE year score will be ranked higher.
- If the GATE year is also the same, the older candidate by age will rank higher.
- If the tie continues, the candidate having the higher percentage in the essential qualification will rank higher.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification. Candidates who successfully complete verification and satisfy all eligibility conditions will be offered provisional appointment.
