The Public Service Commission, West Bengal (WBPSC) has released the Clerkship Examination, 2024 – Advertisement No. 12/2024 for recruitment to Lower Division Assistant, Lower Division Clerk and similar posts in West Bengal Government offices. The recruitment will cover posts in Secretariats, Directorates, District Offices and Regional Offices.

WBPSC Clerkship Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must meet the educational qualification and computer/typing requirements given below.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed the Madhyamik Examination of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent. CLERKSHIP2024

Computer and Typing Requirement

Candidates must have elementary knowledge of computer operation and typing ability at the following speed:

Bengali Language Requirement

Candidates must be able to read, write and speak Bengali.

This requirement is not applicable to candidates whose mother tongue is Nepali. Candidates whose mother tongue is neither Bengali nor Nepali will have their elementary Bengali knowledge tested during the computer operation and typing assessment. CLERKSHIP2024

WBPSC Clerkship Age Limit 2026

The age limit is 18 to 45 years as on 1 January 2024.

Candidates must have been born between 2 January 1979 and 1 January 2006. The date of birth recorded in the Madhyamik or equivalent certificate will be accepted. CLERKSHIP2024

Selected candidates will be placed in Level 6 with a pay scale of ₹22,700 to ₹58,500.

WBPSC Clerkship Selection Process 2026

The selection process will be conducted in the following stages:

1. Part-I Objective Examination
2. Part-II Conventional Written Examination
3. Computer Operation and Typing Assessment
4. Final Merit List

WBPSC will first conduct Part-I. A limited number of candidates who obtain the required qualifying marks will be allowed to appear in Part-II.

The examination will have two written stages.

There will be negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer in MCQ-type questions. CLERKSHIP2024

Category-Wise Qualifying Marks

The aggregate qualifying marks are based on the marks obtained in Part-I and Part-II together.

The WBPSC Clerkship Part-I examination is tentatively scheduled to be held in December 2026 or thereabout.
