The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) has released Notification No. 11/2026 (Advertisement No. 747) on 06.10.2026 for the Combined Civil Services Examination-IV (Group IV Services). A total of 6574 vacancies across 46 posts such as Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Junior Assistant, Bill Collector, Typist, Steno Typist, Forest Watcher and Forest Guard with Driving Licence will be filled through a single written examination. * Telephone Operator also needs a Telephone Board operation training certificate. The qualification must be held on the date of notification (06.10.2026). Adequate knowledge of Tamil is mandatory, and those without it must pass the Second Class Language Test in Tamil within two years of appointment.

Forest Guard with Driving Licence candidates must have 6/6 distance vision in each eye without glasses and 0.5 (Snellen) near vision, with no colour blindness or squint. Lasik or laser surgery is a disqualification. The endurance test is a walk of 25 km for male candidates and 16 km for female / third gender candidates within four hours, held only at Chennai.

The exam is an OMR-based objective test of three hours. Parts B and C are evaluated only if the candidate secures at least 40% (60 marks) in Part A, and the total of Parts A, B and C decides the rank.
Part A questions are in Tamil only, while Parts B and C are in Tamil and English. Differently abled candidates who studied only English can opt for General English (SSLC standard) instead of the Tamil test.
There is a deduction of 0.5 mark for leaving the left thumb impression blank or any question unmarked, so darken option E when unsure.

How to Apply Online for TNPSC Group 4 2026
- Visit the application portal at tnpscexams and complete the One Time Registration (OTR) with a valid email ID, mobile number and Aadhaar linking. Skip this step if you are already registered.
- Log in with your User ID and password and click Apply against the Combined Civil Services Examination-IV (Group IV Services) notification.
- Check the OTR details displayed and fill in the post options, community, qualifications, and choose two examination centres.
- Upload a recent photograph and signature in the prescribed format (see the table below).
- Preview the application, pay the Rs.100 examination fee if applicable, and click Submit. Note down the application number.
- Use the correction window (09 to 11 November 2026) if any detail needs to be edited.
