Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad, one of the lead centres of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has released Advertisement No. SAC:02:2026 dated 10 September 2026 for temporary positions of Junior Research Fellows (JRFs), Research Associates (RAs) and Project Scientist-I. A total of 47 positions are available across Post Codes 01 to 16 in areas including semiconductor technology, RF and microwave, electronics, AI/ML, remote sensing, GIS, atmospheric sciences, oceanography, hydrology and related fields.

The SAC Recruitment 2026 online application window is open from 10 September 2026 at 10:00 AM to 30 September 2026 at 5:00 PM. There is no application fee, and applications will be accepted online only.

ISRO SAC JRF Recruitment 2026 – Post Codes 01 to 07

Junior Research Fellow – Details

The official notification specifies highly specialised research areas. For example, Post Code 01 involves millimetre-wave and sub-mm-wave circuits, while Post Code 02 covers RF mixed-signal/digital ASIC design, semiconductor modelling and related work.

Post Code 06 specifically includes Agentic AI and LLM integration, prompt engineering, AI debugging, AI solutions for meteorology and oceanography, and climate-quality data processing.

Research Associate – Post Codes 08 to 10

For Post Code 08, the alternative M.E./M.Tech. route requires three years of relevant experience after the degree and at least one research paper in an SCI-indexed journal.

ISRO SAC Project Scientist Recruitment 2026– Post Codes 11 to 16

The detailed work profiles include NISAR data analysis, cryosphere studies, remote sensing, GIS, hydrology, SAR modelling, soil-moisture estimation and crustal deformation research.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Eligibility

Educational Qualification

The prescribed qualification varies by Post Code. Candidates must possess the qualification specified against the particular position.

For positions where M.E./M.Tech. is prescribed, the degree must have been completed with at least 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CGPA/CPI on a 10-point scale. Where M.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. is prescribed, the requirement is 65% aggregate marks or 6.84 CGPA/CPI on a 10-point scale.

Rounding off of marks is not permitted. The notification also provides specific rules for CGPA, percentage and dual/integrated degrees.

Additional Qualification for JRF Posts

Applicants for Post Codes 01 to 07 must also have qualified at least one of the following:

• CSIR-UGC NET, including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship
• GATE
• A national-level examination conducted by Central Government departments/agencies/institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER and others specified in the notification.

The relevant examination result/scorecard must be valid on the application closing date, 30 September 2026.

Important Qualification Rule

Candidates waiting for their final-year/final-semester result on 30 September 2026 are not eligible to apply. The notification expressly states that 30 September 2026 is the cut-off date for age and acquiring the essential qualification.

Candidates holding degrees from foreign universities must produce an equivalency certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi at the interview.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

• OBC-NCL: 3 years

SAC Recruitment 2026 Fellowship and Emoluments

These are fellowship/associateship/project positions, not regular permanent posts. Therefore, the amounts should be described as fellowship or associateship amounts rather than regular government salary.

For Research Associates, the associateship amount is fixed at one of the three levels based on the candidate’s qualification and experience.

If hostel accommodation is not provided, HRA will be paid at the prescribed rate applicable at the place of posting. The fellowship amount is treated as Basic Pay for this purpose. Selected candidates, however, are not entitled to benefits or concessions available to regular employees.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Tenure

The positions are temporary and project-specific.

• JRF: Initially one year; extendable based on performance and project requirements; maximum engagement period is 5 years.
• Research Associate: Initially one year; extendable based on performance and project requirements; maximum engagement period is 3 years.
• Project Scientist-I: Initially one year or the project duration; extendable based on performance and project requirements. The positions are co-terminus with the projects.

SAC Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection process is not based on a written examination.

The process is:

Online Application → Shortlisting, if required → Personal Interview → Selection Panel → Medical Fitness → Joining

SAC states that merely possessing the minimum qualification does not automatically make a candidate eligible for the selection process. If applications are received in large numbers, candidates may be shortlisted based on academic records and subject specialisation.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Personal Interview. The shortlist and interview schedule will be published on the SAC website, while interview call letters will be sent only through email. The final selection panel will be prepared based on performance in the interview only.

Candidates called for interview must bring original documents along with self-attested copies supporting the information submitted in the application.
