The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026 notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026. The recruitment is being conducted for Group C posts including Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Data Entry Operator Grade ‘A’ in various Ministries, Departments, Offices and other Government organizations.

SSC has announced approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies. The vacancies are not final at this stage, and the Commission will publish updated post-wise and category-wise vacancies later.

The online application process starts on 7 September 2026 and the last date to submit the application is 7 October 2026. The Tier-I and Tier-II examination dates will be announced separately by SSC.

SSC CHSL Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualification

For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’, except the specified DEO posts, candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

For DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed 12th Standard in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject.

Candidates appearing in the 12th examination can apply, but they must possess the required qualification by 7 October 2026.

The result of the required qualification must have been declared by the Board/University by 7 October 2026. Merely having the result under processing on the cutoff date does not satisfy the requirement.

Age Limit

The age limit is 18 to 27 years as on 1 August 2026.

Candidates must have been born not before 2 August 1999 and not later than 1 August 2008.

SSC CHSL Skill Test and Typing Test

LDC/JSA Typing Test

Candidates have to choose English or Hindi as the typing-test medium in the online application.

The typing test is conducted for 10 minutes. Candidates eligible for the specified scribe facility receive additional compensatory time.

DEO Skill Test

For DEO posts:

The DEO Skill Test is mandatory and qualifying in nature.

SSC CHSL Selection Process 2026

The SSC CHSL selection process consists of:

Tier-I → Tier-II → Skill Test/Typing Test → Document Verification → Final Allocation

Candidates are shortlisted for Tier-II based on their performance in Tier-I. Normalized scores are used for determining merit and cut-offs.

All candidates appearing in Tier-II must qualify all four sections. The Computer Knowledge Test and Skill/Typing Test are qualifying in nature.

Final Merit

The final merit list is prepared on the basis of Tier-II performance.

SSC will consider the aggregate marks obtained in Tier-II Section-I and Section-II, subject to the candidate qualifying Sections III and IV.

Post and department allocation is based on merit-cum-preference. Once submitted, post preferences are final and cannot be changed.

Apply online through the SSC website or the mySSC mobile application.

SSC has clarified that an OTR created on the old SSC website (ssc.nic.in) will not work on the new website. Candidates who have not created an OTR on the new website must register again.

Documents Required for SSC CHSL Application

Candidates completing the new OTR may be required to provide identity, date-of-birth, address, photograph and gender-related details/documents depending on the authentication method used.

SSC also advises candidates to check the application through the Preview/Print option before final submission and retain a copy of the application and relevant examination documents.

SSC CHSL Exam Centre and Admit Card

SSC will issue Admission Certificates online through its website and the concerned Regional Office websites. Examination city information is to be made available approximately 10 days before the examination.

Candidates who have not undergone Aadhaar-based authentication have to report earlier and carry the required original valid photo ID and other documents specified by SSC.

SSC CHSL Document Verification

Document Verification will be conducted by the concerned User Ministries/Departments/Organizations after declaration of the final result.

Candidates may be required to produce:

  • Matriculation/Secondary Certificate
  • Educational Qualification Certificate
  • Equivalence Certificate, where applicable
  • Caste/Category Certificate
  • PwBD Certificate, where applicable
  • Ex-Servicemen documents, where applicable
  • Age-relaxation certificate, where applicable
  • No Objection Certificate for candidates already employed in Government/Government undertakings

If the claims made in the application cannot be supported by the required documents, the candidature can be cancelled.
